JOANIES GOODIES is a part of joanies goodies & cafe, located on Main Street in Schroon Lake, NY (Exits 26 thru 28 Interstate 87) about 90 minutes north of Albany, New York.
My family and I are members of the Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce. We purchased, restored, and operate our Bakery, Restaurant, Antiques and Gift Shop out of a 120 foot long 19th Century building on Main Street. I am active in the community, raising money for the American Heart Association, coordinating the July 4th Parade & Christmas Celebration; and helping our Chamber of Commerce.
I recognize that obesity is the #1 medical problem in the United States. Reaching epidemic proportions in our young and old, obesity is creating a population lethargic, overweight and rapidly stretching the capabilities of our health systems. Heart disease and diabetes have surpassed cancer as the leading chronic health problems. In spite of the unprecedented advances in health care, obesity related diseases continue to grow in the general population. One of the biggest challenges of the food industry is the ability to provide "sweets" that are unprocessed and healthy. Health experts are recommending (in moderation) dark chocolates, nuts and fruit to satisfy our sweet tooth. I believe that my products can reduce obesity and help counteract the growth of heart disease.
